Tokiwaso is the apartment where Osamu Tezuka and other symbolic manga artists of the Showa era spent their youth. The area around the site is reminiscent of the 1950s and offers a rest stop along the Tokiwaso path and monuments throughout the town. A reconstruction of Tokiwaso is scheduled to open as a museum on the street at 2020, making this a must-see area for manga fans everywhere.
手塚治虫、藤子・F・不二雄、藤子不二雄A、石ノ森章太郎ら昭和を代表するマンガ家が青春時代を過ごしたアパート“トキワ荘”。1950年代当時の面影を残す跡地周辺エリアには、トキワ荘ゆかりのマンガ家の作品や展示が閲覧できる「トキワ荘通りお休み処」や、モニュメントが街中に設置されている。2020年には、トキワ荘を復元したミュージアムも開館予定。マンガファンには欠かせないスポットだ。
